AT&T Cutting Off the $USD 30 Unlimited Data Service

After last weeks’ announcement, AT&T is about to end its $USD30 infinite date scheme for netbook and smartphones, now offering new subscribers instead with an alternate, an unappealing cheaper plan.

Current users can stay on the unlimited scheme but sad news to the new applicants registering for the carrier after tonight will no longer avail the sought after $USD 30 unlimited package.

A new cheaper plan is being pushed by AT&T starting with a $USD 15 per month scheme which only includes a 200MB of data. And if customers go over the offered scheme, they will be billed with another $USD 15 for every 200MB of data they use, making it a more expensive suggestion.

Another plan being pushed is the $USD 25 a month subscription scheme, that will allow users a 2GB data for their smartphone, tablet, netbook for the whole month of subscription. But for every 1GB used over the scheme they subscribe for, this will be charged for another $USD 10, a real nut cracker!

But AT&T explained that only a percentage of 65 of smartphone owner only use less than a 200MB of data every month, and 98% could not even cap the 2GB data per month. The only people that more likely needs an unlimited data service are the iPhone users, which a significant number of them surpass a 2GB data usage every month.

iPad and iPhone users will be paying as much as $USD 50 or more a month for the bandwidth service they subscribe for. It would be an unsightly scene (or maybe wailing and gnashing of teeth while) reading their monthly bills from AT&T. Streaming services over your iPhones or iPads will no longer be enjoyable as before for you will be conscious about the bytes you consumed or suffer the consequences later. But for mediocre users it’s ok to say that you’ll be just fine.
